socks

Non slippage
Have I achieved the impossible by finding non slippage footsies that actually don’t slip?
These are Calvin Klein toeless yoga socks. They have a sole grip and individual toes.
When my mum visited Japan a few years ago she bought a pair of toed socks and told me how comfortable they were and how they fit her extremely small feet so well. I put it down to the toes. When I found these in tkmaxx, I thought I should consumer test them and then possibly buy more as presents.
I’m not keen on in-betweeny toes bits on flip flops so was a bit apprehensive. Quite comfortable, not much slippage. I will have to try different shoe heights to confirm but with a pair of inch and a half ankle boots, they didn’t move.
I liked them and they were an interesting conversation starter with everyone I showed!
So did I achieve the impossible. No. I thought I had, but on reflection these are not footsies. They are socks. My mission is still alive and kicking!

Fishnet protectors
As usual I’m revealing the secrets of a hosiery wearer with this view of my fishnet protectors.
If I’m being an optimist then this is a two for one post.
Underneath this sexy exterior lies this! An extra pair of hosiery to stop the fishnets from rubbing my soles and causing blisters. The fishnets are Donna Karan signature collection micro tulle and the socks were a freebie with an order from China.
Yes they did protect, and yes I was aware of them all the time, and yes the sexy woman aura wasn’t as sexy.

Trying to be cool
I follow the fashions and so I was trying to be cool when I wore these sheer spotted socks.
On my travels I’ve seen the trend to wear sheer socks so today I wore a jumpsuit and paired it with these socks by noq called whisper. Reinforced toes and a elasticated top. Very comfortable and not too tight. They held up well.
Did I look and feel cool? I’ve no idea. I didn’t feel cool and in my head I looked like I was just coming home from a day of work in the paddy fields. My legs are too short to show that skin gap between sock and trouser so if you did see skin it just looked like a middle aged woman showing her pop socks.

Secrets of hosiery
Today I’m goiung to reveal one of the secrets of hosiery.
This is what goes on behind the doors of a hosiery wearer. Yes extra socks to prevent lace tights from rubbing my feet. I usually forget to do this and end up with sore feet for the next day. I tend to find the brightest coloured socks in an un contrastiung pattern to not match my tights. Hey, I’m not going to pretend they’re not there.
These tights are my second pair of Golden Lady floral lace. This time given to me by my pal LT, the first sadly died when I applied too much pressure and pushed my hand through them. They are an ace clear pattern and because of the material, feels crochet-ee keep you warm in autumn weather.

Care Package Surprise
I got a care package surprise from my friend SM and as well as the chocolate treats, candles, and the “feel better” knick knacks, it also included these Next giraffe socks. It made the week so much better!

I’m a sick lady so i’ll wear what I want
As well as wearing a repeat cycle of comfortable tights during my post op period, I have also been wearing patterned knee high socks. Check these out for maximum outfit coordination! Hey I’m at home and in theory no one can see me.

Stripey red socks
I’m off work this week so I don’t have to look smart so I look silly instead with these stripey red socks. Hey it is the extended Halloween season. They kept me warm and I kinda looked groovy too. Just one problem with socks, they fall down and need pulling up. Especially when I walk the dog but I do pull them over my knees because of my short legs. It’s for that extra cosiness.

Skull socks
Skulls socks today, since you and I have established that socks are indeed part of the hosiery family. 😆
I’ve had these for years. Bought off the local market. I wear socks when it’s cold but I don’t want to feel too imprisoned. Being on my feet all day has caused my calves to be comparatively muscular and large so I do feel that socks do get a bit stretched over that area. Just me being self concious, but it’s never stopped me developing the hoseoffun style.

Are socks hosiery?
Are socks hosiery? Well I’m not sure. My two arguements for them being not keep being contradicted.
- They don’t cover the bottom. Rapidly contradicted by knee highs, thigh highs and also anklets.
- They are woolly. Again tights aren’t necessarily just made from sheer denier material. Very warm woolly tights have been worn on this very blog in times of extreme cold and cosiness.
So are they hosiery? Well I have just looked hosiery up in the dictionary and yes they are! However I don’t like it!
