stripes

Turned out lovely
Well the wedding was yesterday and it turned out lovely. So lovely that it was too hot for tights and the azaleas will have to wait.
Instead I got a magnificent post of my 4 year old niece, a whirling disco princess NW. Dressed in spectacular stripes. She is a future fashion blogger herself and is so stylish already that she coloured in this fairy with matching legwear to her own.

On a Winning Streak
The cherry has just been placed on top of the cake because I’m on a winning streak.
It seems I’m back on the horse and hosiery blogging is still on solid ground. It’s roughly my two year anniversary and to celebrate I’ve managed to win a competition! Yay! Yippee! So check out loveyourlegs for some fabulous tights. The prize will be shown as soon as I receive them, woo hoo double enjoyment, I’ll be getting a package through the post, so stay tuned.

Leg Warmers, I’m making them hip for next season
Leg Warmers, I’m making them hip for next season. I’ve always been ahead of the style curve, so hip that no one really notices that the trends of today, I was seeking or wearing a few years ago. Maybe that should possibly push me into the eccentric world rather the trendsetter circle. Hmmm!
Sooo, what’s with the leg warmers? Have I taken up fitness… no. Have I become obsessed with nostalgia and started to binge watch old series of Fame… no, even though I do fly! Do I have a friend as mad as me who challenged me to knit my own but then went out to get me some to make me feel better… yes!!! Like me she’s a girl with the same trendsetter (eccentric) style, and bought me bright, wacky, stripey designs. So everyday I got a special package in the post. Now I will be the brightest patient on the chemo ward! Thank you to my lovely, good friend Maz!!!

Monochrome Stripes
Matching monochrome stripes today. Ok maybe not the ones I’m wearing but certainly the small version are. Again modelled by my 6 year old niece, a fetching pair of tights for her Book Week “The Worse Witch” costume.
Mine, were part of a Christmas present package. They had an impressive wide waistband for comfort. Quite stretchy. Good!

Stripey red socks
I’m off work this week so I don’t have to look smart so I look silly instead with these stripey red socks. Hey it is the extended Halloween season. They kept me warm and I kinda looked groovy too. Just one problem with socks, they fall down and need pulling up. Especially when I walk the dog but I do pull them over my knees because of my short legs. It’s for that extra cosiness.

“Oroblu Miss”ed me
Over the Summer months I’ve “Oroblu Miss”ed me looking at all the beautiful hosiery I could buy. Granted Summer probably isn’t the season for tights so the range of designs has been a bit sparse. I did manage to grab some out of season specials so all was not lost.
I got these out and look at the detail! A dotted waist band and a faux panty line for modesty, just in case you’ve spend all your money on silly expensive tights and none on knickers. I was impressed a nice, flash touch I thought.
These are Oroblu “Miss” tights with a clever barbed wire design made up of spots and stripes and a polka dot garter pattern with a bow round the back just to add a little more femininity.

They were lovely. Great design, hidden specials and they felt smooth and silky due to their sheer quality.
I did get a shock at the end of the day. My dress was silky and lined but I found some snags in them… Here on the left leg. I don’t remember them when I put them on and because they are such a well made hosiery I don’t remember having to pull them up either. I must, I must moisturise my hands. It’s the only thing I can muster that could possibly cause this damage, dry skin!

Skull socks
Skulls socks today, since you and I have established that socks are indeed part of the hosiery family. 😆
I’ve had these for years. Bought off the local market. I wear socks when it’s cold but I don’t want to feel too imprisoned. Being on my feet all day has caused my calves to be comparatively muscular and large so I do feel that socks do get a bit stretched over that area. Just me being self concious, but it’s never stopped me developing the hoseoffun style.

Christmas Eve
Yippee, it’s Christmas Eve and I’m doing my best to look like an incognito elf with these stripy red and orange Falke woolley tights. Hope it’s going to be a cold day because they do keep me rather warm. My 5 foot frame doesn’t help with my whole sophisticated elf look because they also have a tendency to fall and gather at the ankle. So I’ll look like Nora Batty trying to look like an elf.

On the Sideline
Morning everyone! Special double bill for you today, today’s tights and yesterday’s.
So today’s tights of the day are these Primark spotty ones with a black sideline stripe.
And yesterday’s tights of the day were Charnos black zigzags from quite a few years ago. Part of the original set which sparked off this wild journey.

Black Stripes
I’ve had these tights for a long time. I’ve kept them separately from the others for historic reasons, these and another pair. They fit, are warm and are comfortable. All extremely important points. They are Charnos, black with stripes. Probably my first couple of pairs that weren’t store standards and patterned rather than plain black. My first few ventures into exciting legwear started with these.
